How Can I Help You?
As a long-time writing consultant and a professor who specializes in personal narrative, I have proved that excellent writing achieves top results. Whatever your writing needs may be, I will coach you on how to effectively and powerfully express your story on the page. I am committed to the entire process of developing your work – from initial brainstorming to the final production of a well-crafted application in your voice. I deeply care about my clients and am proud to have built many lasting working relationships. There’s nothing better than an ecstatic phone call from a client who has been accepted to his or her first choice school!
Who Am I?
A native New Yorker, I graduated from Vassar College and went on to work as an editor at Zagat Survey and then at Harper’s Magazine in New York before heading off to the deserts of the American Southwest, where I earned my MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Arizona. While in graduate school, I also worked as a freelance journalist and private writing coach. I went on to teach English at several competitive private secondary schools, including Milton Academy and then Marlborough School, where I worked as the school’s first College Application Essay Adviser. I helped students write winning essays that got them into their top choice schools and also directed regular “Application Essay Boot Camps.” Along the way, I completed an MA in English Literature at Middlebury College and then started my own application consulting business. I now live in Burlington, Vermont, and teach writing at Saint Michael’s College.
