Interview Logistics
| |
Were you given options for the date of the
interview?: |
|
Yes - |
| |
Could you choose the interview's location?: |
|
Yes - I live in Philly, so I enjoyed the roadtrip down the PA Turnpike. EZ Pass is king! Honestly, I found the online info for Tepper kinda bland and visiting the school brought it to life - def recommend going in person.
|
| |
How many interviews were scheduled?: |
|
1 - As a lifelong procrastinator, I got an interview invite in round 4 and didn't do the optional interview that you can schedule very early on in the year before apps are submitted. |
| |
Who were the interviewers?: |
|
|
| |
Did you receive a tour?: |
|
Yes - Both of Tepper and CMU. Kinda wish we would've gone into the business library. |
Interview Content
| |
What was the most difficult question?: |
|
Why do you want to come to Tepper as opposed to another school? (Do whatever you can to schedule your interview AFTER the info session - helps with organizing your thoughts.) |
| |
What was the most interesting question?: |
|
I told them that I was into extreme martial arts and they asked if I was interested in starting an MMA club. Kinda awesome.
|
| |
Did you receive any feedback at the end?: |
|
No - |
| |
Any other questions you remember?: |
|
"How would you describe your style of leadership?" and "Tell me about yourself." Read up on accepted.com and you'll do fine. |
Applicant Reaction
| |
Did you feel prepared?: |
|
|
| |
How did you prepare?: |
|
Accepted.com prep and practicing in front of stuffed animal audiences. Personally, I spent a grand total of 30 mins prepping for all of my MBA interviews combined. I recommend doing a little more than that. |
| |
What was your opinion of the Faculty?: |
|
Sat in on a strategy class and the Prof was way bubbly for early AM. Didn't meet any others. |
| |
What was your opinion of the Alumni?: |
|
Dunno any. |
| |
What was your opinion of the Students?: |
|
Super friendly and laid back. They seem genuinely happy with Tepper. |
| |
What was your opinion of the Office Personnel?: |
|
Warm and welcoming, especially given that it was like Grand Central in there all the time. |
| |
What was most impressive?: |
|
|
| |
What was least impressive?: |
|
|
| |
Did anything change your opinion of the school?: |
|
Yes - Frankly, I thought the YouTube info clips on the school website were incredibly cheesy. Actually visiting the school, however, reaffirmed why it was (and is) my top choice. |
Applicant Suggestions
| |
Was there something you wish you had known ahead of
time?: |
|
No - |
| |
Suggestions for travel to the school?: |
|
If you're a road warrior, the Parkway Center Best Western is way cheap and bypasses most downtown traffic. Do not eat the free breakfast and do not use the pool/hot tub unless you want to get violently ill the night before like I did. |
| |
What other advice can you offer future intervewees?: |
|
Relax and enjoy the process. It was actually pretty fun. Best of luck! |
