Were you given options as to the date of the interview?:
Yes - I fell head over heels for Darden at the interview. The entire day was filled with welcoming people and a great environment.
Could you choose the interview's location?:
No - Darden requires if you are anywhere close (I believe anywhere in the US) you must come to campus to interview.
How many interviews were scheduled?:
1
How many interviewed you?:
1 - I was interviewed by a second year student heavily involved with the admissions committee.
How long were the interviews?:
about 45 mins.
Who were the interviewers?:
Students
What was the most difficult question?:
Very basic questions.
What was the most interesting question?:
There wasn't a really fascinating one.
Any other questions you remember?:
It was a drawn out "walk me through your resume" kind of interview. There were mostly tailored or general questions pertaining to my resume and story. I think proving some sort of value to a study team and the case method is very important to Darden.
Did you feel prepared?:
Yes - I was tired by the travel to Charlottesville, so watch out for that.
How did you prepare?:
Reading the database here and listening to the Darden Business Casts really prepared me very well. I felt I really had a good grasp on Darden before I arrived on campus. Speaking with students on campus was also helpful.
Did you receive any feedback at the end?:
Yes - just general pleasantries - it was hard to really say one way or another.
What was your opinion of the Faculty?:
What was your opinion of the Alumni?:
What was your opinion of the Students?:
Very, very friendly and engaged. Even the other prospective students were friendly.
What was your opinion of the Office Personnel?:
Also very friendly - the admissions coordinator remembered me from a reschedule issue over a class visit and took a moment to chat with me while I waited.
Did you receive a tour?:
Yes - Darden offers a student guided tour as well as a self-guided tour. I caught up a bit with the student one and then took the self-guided tour. Every time I got a bit unsure of my location there seemed to be a friendly staff member or student willing to direct me back to the next step.
What was most impressive?:
How personalized the paperwork and visit was. My packet included contact information for the Real Estate club (interest in Real Estate) and I interviewed with someone involved in the Women in Business club (another interest of mine.) The admissions coordinator remembered my name even though I hadn't been able to visit before. I really appreciated the personalization.
What was least impressive?:
Darden is gorgeous, Charlottesville is quite nice, but not a metropolis. Be prepared when traveling to Charlottesville to really feel a bit divorced from the rest of the world.
Did anything change your opinion of the school? :
Yes - The students and environment really enamored me to the school.
Was there something you wish you had known ahead of time?:
Yes
Suggestions for travel to the school?:
Get there the night before if you can. Traveling the day of really cuts down on how much you can participate in the day of optional events they provide and will wear you out. I found driving from DC to be the easiest.
What other advice can you offer future interviewees?:
Be yourself, and be prepared to have a long conversation as your interview.
