Were you given options as to the date of the interview?:
Yes - I had called to schedule an interview and they seemed very easy and flexible. I even changed my interview time after scheduling and had no problems.
Could you choose the interview's location?:
Yes - Options included on-campus and off-campus. I had never been to Evanston or Kellogg so I chose on-campus, which was in the admissions office.
How many interviews were scheduled?:
1
How many interviewed you?:
1 - There seemed to be a revolving door of interviewees and interviewers. The office could not tell me in advance who would be interviewing me because it was whoever was free at that time.
How long were the interviews?:
45 mins
Who were the interviewers?:
Administrative or admissions staff
What was the most difficult question?:
What's the harshest piece of feedback you've received?
What was the most interesting question?:
What do your colleagues wish you would have done better?
Any other questions you remember?:
How has your leadership sytle changed since college (I graduated 7 yrs ago)? Tell me about your undergraduate experience. Why did you leave (first employer)? Why Kellogg? What activities do you see yourself getting involved in here (also social activities specifically were asked)? What would your colleagues miss most about you?
Did you feel prepared?:
Yes - There weren't as many behavioral questions as I expected. Interview was laid back, interviewer was easy-going and friendly.
How did you prepare?:
Reread all my applications (not just Kellogg's), Montauk's book, practiced with a friend, went through my notes on Kellogg and the website.
Did you receive any feedback at the end?:
No
What was your opinion of the Faculty?:
SUPER nice! I sat in on three classes the day before my interview. All the professors made time to come over and say hello. One even asked us to sit with the rest of the class instead of in the designated corner. I thought the classes were fairly engaging, if not easier than expected. I enjoyed the format and class size.
What was your opinion of the Alumni?:
Haven't met too many alum.
What was your opinion of the Students?:
So I kept hearing how wonderful and friendly and nice Kellogg students are but I DID NOT have that experience. I didn't really like the students I met, they were either unhelpful or only mildly so. They didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome. In fact when I sat in on a class and the prof asked the students who needed a partner (so I could see their laptops) NOBODY volunteered and he had to call on someone. I felt like I was in high school.
What was your opinion of the Office Personnel?:
Mixed. The ones on the phone were very nice. But when I got there there was one person who had kind of an attitude and was frustrating to deal with.
Did you receive a tour?:
No - I think they offered tours but it was too cold to step outside the building for very long. I walked around the building myself. It was ok - part of it were cold and concrete-like. Wasn't sure I'd want to spend 8 hours a day here. Food options in the building itself were awful.

What was most impressive?:
Professors
What was least impressive?:
Students
Did anything change your opinion of the school? :
Yes - Didn't love it as much as I thought I would. People weren't as nice as I expected. Some parts of my experience were frustrating: missed the opportunity to sit in on a class because it was canceled for the day but the student in the class with me didn't think to tell me and it was too late for me to sit in on another class; was really excited about sitting in on a healthcare class but the professor was sick so there was a guest speaker; last class I attended was taught by an adjunct faculty member.
Was there something you wish you had known ahead of time?:
Yes - I didn't realize how far Evanston really is from Chicago.
Suggestions for travel to the school?:
I was lucky enough to borrow a friend's car to drive to Evanston (took 30 mins). I think the train takes over an hour from the airport or downtown Chicago.
What other advice can you offer future interviewees?:
Try to talk to as many students and alumni as possible. Definitely visit schools you are interested in. The Montauk book has been invaluable through the application process.
