Were you given options as to the date of the interview?:
Yes - I even had to reschedule and they were super cool about it.
Could you choose the interview's location?:
Yes - On site or via phone/internet.
How many interviews were scheduled?:
1 - even choose to do a video interview via skype. I opted for in person because I was really curious about the school, but I met someone who was accepted after only completing the phone interview.
How many interviewed you?:
1 - Interviewed with a member of the adcom who was incredibly easy going and nice and made me feel at ease. Unfortunately this made it also hard for me to gauge how the interview was going because everyone there is SO NICE.
How long were the interviews?:
30 minutes (I was scheduled for a tour) but I think could be longer.
Who were the interviewers?:
Administrative or admissions staff
What was the most difficult question?:
The most difficult question was to talk about a time when my confidence was shaken.
What was the most interesting question?:
Probably the most interesting one *see above.
Any other questions you remember?:
-Tell us about your career progression -Why business school? Why now? -What do you do in your free time.
Did you feel prepared?:
Yes - I think I bored my interviewer a little. :( Try not to be like me and ramble on, I need to work on that and am just crossing my fingers at this point.
How did you prepare?:
By reading the advice on this site, and really poring over the CMU Tepper site.
Did you receive any feedback at the end?:
No - Seriously, they are all so nice it's hard to tell how you did.
What was your opinion of the Faculty?:
Super! Got to sit in on a really neat class, the prof seemed super enthusiastic and funny. I'm sold.
What was your opinion of the Alumni?:
NA
What was your opinion of the Students?:
Probably the best part. So helpful. I've never been in a situation like that.
What was your opinion of the Office Personnel?:
AWESOME.
Did you receive a tour?:
Yes - The weather was poor so it probably wasn't as extensive as it could have been.
What was most impressive?:
The people. The adcom and the students and the faculty. Out of this world.
What was least impressive?:
Pittsburgh, I hated it!
Did anything change your opinion of the school? :
Yes - Well, it was my first time seeing Pittsburgh and boy, it was not ideal. I would love to go to Tepper, but if I don't get into to that school, I think I'll have dodged a bullet with not having to live in Pitt. for two years.
Was there something you wish you had known ahead of time?:
Yes - Nope
Suggestions for travel to the school?:
Take the 28x from the airport. Look at hotels with free shuttles to campus (there are a few). Do not rely on these shuttles to respond to you on the return trip-- I had to wait out in the cold forever... Also, public transportation is a nightmare, it costs 2.60 and there are no transfer tickets.
What other advice can you offer future interviewees?:
Relax, everyone there was so nice, they really make you fall in love with the school. Also, dress nicely and try and remain polite. I saw some people sitting on their feet during the information sessions, just looked a little disrespectful considering the setting...
