Consultant Profile: Vanessa Febo

I have ten years of experience teaching academic and professional writing at UCLA, with a special certification in teaching writing techniques. I have drawn on this expertise to guide clients to placements at top institutions, including Harvard, Stanford, and USC. Before joining Accepted, I coached UCLA students through the application process for graduate programs, major grants, fellowships, and scholarships, including the Fulbright, Stanford Knight-Hennessey, and the Ford Foundation Fellowship. I have extensive experience successfully guiding clients through applications for a diverse range of programs, including those in business, humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields.

My successful approach to crafting applications is based on two key ideas:

  1. I will mentor and guide you. Using a process-oriented approach, I will demystify and guide you through the application process. We will navigate this process successfully together to create the materials you need to achieve your goals.

  2. I will collaborate with you in a positive, goal-oriented environment. Writing and editing application documents involves sharing personal details, making mistakes, and telling personal stories. I firmly believe in creating an environment in which clients feel comfortable and ready to engage in the process of crafting their best application possible.

Writing is all about pulling ideas from your brain and putting it on the page. The editing process is where the magic happens; editing is where those ideas are shaped so they can be communicated and understood by the outside world. I love working with clients to craft and shape a compelling application. My favorite moments are when clients discover something about themselves in the process and, of course, when they get accepted!
